    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average distance and elevation gain we will walk each day?

Every day we have active hikes of approximately 4 to 5, sometimes 6 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level. You’ll find more detailed information in each of our travel programs. If you need more information about a specific day of the program, we can schedule a WhatsApp call to answer your questions. Please contact us for this. For calls or inquiries, please use this number: +51 943 081 066

What experience and physical condition do I need to climb this mountain? Is this program suitable for children or seniors?

For our mountaineering trips: If the mountains are easily accessible: For easy climbs, you don’t need much experience. However, if you want to climb mountains above 6,000 meters and the conditions become more challenging, we recommend taking a basic or intermediate course for proper preparation. It’s very important to be physically, technically, and psychologically prepared.

Regarding children’s preparation: It all depends on the mountain you want to climb with your children. Once you’ve decided which of our routes or mountains you want to take them on, we can give you some advice or discuss how to prepare them before you go.

Regarding seniors: It all depends on their experience level and health. Often, seniors are better suited for mountain trekking because they have more experience, so it’s always a good idea to ask about their experience as senior participants. If you have any further questions, please contact us. For calls or inquiries to this number: +51 943 081 066

What experience do I need? What level of fitness do I need? Is this program suitable for children or seniors?

For long-distance hikes, you need to at least train or do some short hikes, such as visiting lakes, to gain experience and feel comfortable with what you’re doing. It’s always a good idea to test yourself before a long-distance hike to avoid altitude sickness during the trek. If you’re traveling with children, it’s best to train them beforehand. If they’re accompanied by an adult, they should acclimatize properly before going on a long-distance tour or camping at high altitude. If you’d like more advice, we can schedule a call via WhatsApp to answer your questions. For calls or inquiries, please use this number: +51 943 081 066

How far in advance should I start training and what type of training do you suggest?

Preparation depends on the type and technical level of trekking or mountaineering you plan to do. You’ll always gain experience gradually.

For demanding or technical climbing activities, it’s recommended to summit peaks above 5,000 meters beforehand and have a good understanding of high-altitude mountaineering equipment, such as the use of technical ice axes, ice screws, proper crampon use, and, of course, all other technical gear. For more information, we can schedule an appointment to explain everything related to mountaineering equipment and preparations for participating in our outings in more detail. For calls or inquiries, please contact us at +51 943 081 066.

How can I get to the meeting point?

For each trip, depending on the destination or the specific trip you’re taking with us, the meeting point is always at our office. On some trips, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation, or in some cases, a representative from our company will meet you and then transfer you to your transportation to continue your tour or trip. If you’d like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. For calls or inquiries, please use this number: +51 943 081 066

Will I need to bring my own technical equipment? Is it possible to rent equipment and, if so, what would the approximate cost be?

On all our trekking and mountaineering trips, personal equipment is not included in our prices, so you will need to provide your own gear. Personal equipment (such as boots, ice axe, crampons, harness, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, Gore-Tex jacket, etc.) is listed on each trip page on our website.

Our company also rents the equipment you need for your trip; see the list here on our website. For calls or inquiries, please contact us at +51 943 081 066.

Will there be porters to help transport personal and group equipment?

On our trekking and mountaineering trips: Depending on the type and destination of the trip you book, some sections of the treks are traveled by mules or donkeys, or sometimes by horses. On mountaineering trips, the approach camps are also reached by mules or donkeys, but there are some sections where pack animals can no longer reach. In these parts, our logistics are entirely supported by porters.

Who are the porters? They are local people who were born and raised in the high-altitude villages. They are very strong and well-acclimated because, after the tourist season ends, they dedicate themselves to agriculture and livestock farming. Therefore, they are accustomed to the altitude and have lived in nature all their lives. They are happy to be in the mountains with our expeditions. For calls or inquiries, please contact this number: +51 943 081 066

How will accommodation and meals be arranged during the tour?

Regarding accommodation and meals during the tour: Well, depending on the type of tour, for classic cultural tours or city tours, meals are provided along the way at tourist restaurants, and overnight stays are in hotels of the category requested by the client.

For tours involving camping and trekking: During the activity, we include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring traditional and typical dishes from the region you’ll be visiting. At night, we stay in tents, with separate tents for the kitchen and dining area.

For high-altitude or mountain trips: We bring special high-altitude food, which is quicker to prepare, and provide complete logistics including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We sleep in special four-season high-altitude tents, using the best available equipment. If you have any questions or concerns, we can schedule a meeting via WhatsApp to answer them and provide you with more information to ensure your trip is an unforgettable experience.

Are there any other special requirements, such as permits/insurance/vaccinations, that I should be aware of before the trip?

There are safe and effective vaccines that provide strong protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. Billions of people have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Getting vaccinated is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself against COVID-19, help end the pandemic, and stop the emergence of new variants.

We also recommend having accident insurance; we always recommend it. We are partners with Global Rescue. If you have any further questions about your trip, we can schedule a call via WhatsApp. For calls or inquiries, please use this number: +51 943 081 066

    Can I join a group?

As a local company with extensive travel experience, we offer departures on various dates. Joining a group trip is the best way to stay within your budget, and while you’re welcome to join our groups, we recommend smaller groups for trips like mountaineering. To join a group, simply request the available dates, and we’ll send you the necessary information to join any of our trips.

Why choose a private trip? For trekking or high-altitude mountaineering trips, a private tour is the most recommended option, but it’s more expensive. Therefore, joining a group offers more reasonable prices. In the mountains, the only potential drawback is being on a rock face with another climber if one of you gets tired or ill. In this case, you’d have to abort or cancel the summit attempt and return together. For more information, please contact us. We can schedule a WhatsApp call to answer all your questions.

On a mountain, for example, if three people are climbing and one of them gets sick on the route, for safety reasons they have to cancel or abort the summit attempt, or all return together. The same applies on a technical mountain; if a climbing partner gets sick, everyone has to turn back. For these reasons, it’s sometimes better to go on a private tour because for a single person, the costs are higher for the same reason: the trip is already private.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Regarding weather conditions, we strive to schedule each tour during the best season to ensure the most spectacular views and enjoyment of the chosen trip. However, even during peak season, inclement weather can occur. While this is generally a minor issue for hiking or trekking trips, it can be particularly challenging during high-altitude climbing expeditions. Therefore, the local guide leaders must always make the most informed decisions to ensure the safety of our passengers. We strongly recommend heeding the advice of your assigned local guide for each tour. If you have any further questions, please contact us.
