    1st stop

    We’ll stop in the town of Carhuaz to sample delicious natural ice cream, then continue through Yungay and on to the city of Caraz. After a 2.5-hour drive, we’ll enter Huascarán National Park. Upon arriving at Laguna Parón, you can enjoy one of the largest lakes in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, admiring its beauty and vibrant colors by walking along the trail, or by boat or kayak. Alternatively, you can hike to the viewpoint for a stunning panoramic view of the lake and surrounding mountains (a 20-30 minute walk).

    10WHAT SHOULD I NOT DO AT LAGUNA PARÓN?

      • Don’t leave trash on the trail, especially since it damages the habitat of Huascarán National Park.
      • Stay away from the group to avoid unnecessary delays.
      • For example, picking any plants in Huascarán National Park.
      • Don’t bring pets.

    Comfortable, warm clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat or cap, a backpack or bag to carry your belongings, water (preferably in a reusable bottle), and cash to buy food along the way or at the lagoon and for boat rides.

    It was our first adventure in Huaraz, and from that day on, we knew it had been a good choice. The long bus ride was more than compensated for by the incredible scenery we arrived at. The bus drops you off almost at the edge of the lagoon, so the surprise is almost immediate. The photos speak for themselves.

      • Drinking coca tea will help with altitude sickness.
