My First Summit – Nevado Mateo 5150 Msl with High Mountain Guides

The best option for beginners, combining trekking with ice walking, reaching the summit at 5,150 m altitude. Includes a visit to Cancará Lagoon.

One of our favorite snow-capped peaks for acclimatization and ideal for mountaineering courses. Also perfect for those who have a short stay in the city of Huaraz. Nevado Contrahierbas (Mateo) 5,150m is one of the closest peaks to Huaraz and is part of the Contrahierbas massif in the Cordillera Blanca. From the summit, you can observe a large part of the Cordillera Blanca and impressive mountains such as Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Contrahierbas, Copa, Hualcan, and Ulta.

In conclusion, it is ideal for your first mountain over 5,000 meters, where you can feel what high-mountain climbing is like using mountain boots, crampons, harness, helmet, and ice axe.
