The country’s landscapes encompass various perfect places to explore. One of the best-known sites, even from school days, is the so-called Cordillera Blanca, located in the province of Ancash, which stretches approximately 200 kilometers in length and 21 kilometers in width.

The Cordillera Blanca is covered in ice and is located on the eastern flank. On the other hand, the Cordillera Negra consists of several ice-free mountains and spans the entire western flank.
The towns in the central part form what is known as the “Callejon de Huaylas.” Among all the highest peaks, Huascarán stands out as the highest snow-capped mountain in the Peruvian Andes, reaching an altitude of 6,768 m.a.s.l.

Regarding birds, it maintains a great variety of species, some of which are the Andean condor, the Andean goose or huallata, the puna partridge, the torrent duck, the mountain caracara, and the Andean gull.
It is estimated that there are an average of 120 species of birds and 10 mammals that coexist in this nature reserve.
